Road Trip Adventures and The Police - Message in a bottle

Hello!!

Once again the writing bug has hit me and I've  realised I haven't posted for a while, so here I am! Hope you're good?!

I can't really explain the lack of posts, as aside from the usual A level revision and seeing friends,  I can't really say what it is that I've been up to... I'm really exciting, I know! :D  ;)

I felt like posting a Police track after being reminded of their brilliance a week or so back, in the half term holiday. After a rather impromptu decision, a few friends and I road-tripped to Liverpool and despite having eclectic tastes, The Police were a band  we all agreed on. Starting with Roxanne, we went for it (yes harmonies and everything :D) and ended up at the one and only 'Message in a bottle. I love the sound of it, so characteristic of their individual style that I find hard to put into words. It kind of reminds me of the sort of music that should be listened to in dark, smoke filled basements with good amplifiers to get the best effect.

According to Wikipedia, the song was released on 21st September 1979 and was the lead single from their second studio Album 'Reggatta de blanc'. It was written by the band's lead singer and bassist 'Sting' and follows the story of a castaway on an island, who sends out a message in a bottle to seek love. When no one answers, he despairs thinking he is desperate to be alone, but by he next day finds "a hundred billion bottles" washed up on the shore from others like himself.

Honestly, understanding the story behind it makes me like it even more! :D

Have a good day,
Molly X
