Tainted Love - Soft Cell

Hey!

I haven't got very much to write about today and currently confined to my bedroom as my parents have decided to chuck pretty much all of my kitchen away and get a new one?! Like... I'm all for a bit of a new look, but majorly renovating the whole kitchen and adding a window seems quite impractical :D (Ignore me I'm just sad that I have to make coffee in the hall way and survive on toasties for the next three weeks) .Anyway,  due to the copious amounts of dust and the fear I'll electrocute myself or something,  I find myself here...
However, this renovation means the radio seems to be permanently on and lucky for you 'Tainted Love' came on as part of 'High School Hits'. In all fairness, it's not normally a feature I'd listen to, but this song is a classic, it can't be argued...:D

Have an absolutely lovely day and enjoy the sunshine!

Being all contemplative and The Libertines - Don't look back into the sun

Evening!

I know you may be thinking my choice if song  is a little too original.. Like everybody knows and hopefully likes it! Perhaps I should mix it up,  but tonight I just think I fancy a post!

On a bit of a deep note (oh here we go), I've been thinking more recently that, in amongst getting so caught up in the busyness or even the trivialities of life, it's so easy to forget the simple things that we should be so extremely grateful for everyday and how important it is to take note of them.
I know this is one of the most cliched topics possible, where images of teenagers going on rants are conjured up. Y'know...The cringe sort of stuff where  they seem to have reached some sort of epiphany. I'm definitely not saying I've come to some sudden realisation that the important things are the important things,  I'm just intrigued in how, every so often I find I have to humble myself, otherwise it's so easy to get caught up in both the wonderful and awful world of social media. Everybody knows the pros and cons of this major part of living in the 21st century, and whilst social media is amazing for staying in touch with friends, it can so easily make people feel like they need to compare themselves to others and inevitably these ideals aren't real. Everybody is just different and the whole idea in life, to me anyway,  is to embrace these changes. If you didn't have your extremely amazing but ultimately varied friends, how would you learn anything at all?
But even the most balanced (not saying I am btw! Teenage girl right here! :D), can get sucked in to these constructs. For me, subtle changes like feeling more jealous of somebody's beautiful picture than thinking 'woah get in there, you go girl, flaunt it', are what make me realise I need to step back and see the bigger picture. Because let's face it, casual social  media is only beneficial if it aids to inspire and most importantly be a positive experience. We need to empower each other, most importantly our friends and family and that's what this sort of interaction is all about. Being happy to see them doing well or having fun.
As I say, this is what it should be, but its all too easy at times to get caught up in the constructs we all form,  (After all, that's all our social media is. No matter how true to yourself you stay, you are still choosing to convey an 'image', bad or good) and end up with little green monsters on our shoulders. Alas, despite being awful really, a little jealousy is inevitable, as long as you are aware of it and do maintain some sort of perspective.
So I say, chill with the family, go on walks, look at how beautiful that flower in your garden looks that you've never seen before... All these things I definitely have to do at times to bring me back to the real world of scruffy hair and basically real life :D and it's the little things like having lovely people around you, that means everything for sure.

I'm looking back at this post, it's turned into more of a voicing of thoughts than expected! Ahh I don't like being serious, but I guess things just all come out on a page  :D.
Thank you to anyone who is actually still reading at this point! :D
Have an absolutely lovely night,

Madness - Our House

Hey,

I'm currently sitting in that daydream stage of revision where I'm thinking 'yeah you either need a break or at least to do something different, because right now you're not learning any of Irwin's Quotes' :'). Fortunately, I do quite like The History Boy's as a play and I love the film even more - featuring a young James Corden and Dominic Cooper - so I'm  glad it's on our exam spec, but sometimes you need a break!
Today I feel like uploading a song that's just easy and not serious and I think 'Our House' falls into that category quite well!
It'll always be a special one for me,  as its one of the first pieces of music I can remember hearing growing up (along with the classics such as  ABBA and The Beatles, all courtesy of Dad).  I can remember properly laughing at the lyrics aged about four,  with the Pop reciting 'Av' you seen 'ar 'aowse?' In his best cockney accent.... Ah, our actual house is mad I can tell you ;).
Madness themselves are, of course,  legends in their own right and it'd only be fair to take a good hour out of your day to listen to their songs now. G'warn.. Just don't get in trouble with your bosses or teachers or anything! :D

Have a fab day!

Techno Fan - The Wombats

Hey,

This should be a fairly quick post as aiming for a early-ish night,  after an absolutely manic day. It's been one of those that was completely unexpected and I'm ending the day sleepy,  but very much different! Not only through the experience of a whole new day (cliche) but also with a brand new piercing?! Haha before you're thinking 'oh, what did she do?' Nothing too drastic, don't worry, just had the top of my ear pierced! But again in true me style lately, it was a completely spontaneous decision, after walking past a piercing artist's shop and thinking 'I'll go get my ear pierced'. So there you go! Haha!
But yeah it's been an ace yet simple day,  consisting of: bumping into a friend in town, picking out gifts, eating cake, then seeing some other friends who happened to be going on a shopping spree so joining them (should probably say they only realised we were coming with them, when we overtook them then stopped and made plans to follow - hey we were bored), admired guitars in a cool music shop, got my ear spontaneously pierced (honestly surprised-  it was a lot less painful than I thought, so the compulsory "but what happens if I jump?" Was not needed) and finished drinking lemonade in a pub with friends. Definitely think sometimes it's in the simple things, like chilling with friends, that the best plans (or lack of plans) happen.
Considering my plan was to mainly revise, today has been a prime example that sometimes you really don't know what's round the corner (me and my mate in a car evidently :D), seriously though feel lucky to have shared it with such ace, crazily spontaneous people :D. And again don't worry, made sure I have time to revise also! You've just got to seize the day sometimes :)

Anyway, The Wombats 'Techno Fan' was one of the songs radiating through the car on our travels and after not hearing it for about 3 years and hearing it's awesomeness all over again, I had to post it. To me it's all about being young and moving and being right there in the moment and I guess that's how I felt today.

Have a lovely evening and carry on being spontaneous!

Paolo Nutini - Jenny Don't Be Hasty

Hey,

Good afternoon! It's actually quite a nice day today and I'm  taking some time out of revising to write a post. To be honest I'm pretty sure playing music to supposedly help me chill and focus whilst revising has an adverse affect, as I hear a good song and then have the erge to post about it whilst it's in my head. 'Mmmmm Molly.., priorities girl' I hear you say. ;)
Today though it's a song by an artist I've suddenly got into in a big way and that's Paolo Nutini. Again, a singer that's been around for ages, so as usual I'm late on the band wagon, but  I've been seeking more chilled songs of late and his music is perfect. It's the sort that should be listened to in a coffee bar at four  in the afternoon whilst chilling with friends, but hey, revising in my bedroom will have to suffice for now.
Incase you don't know much about the pretty cool singer, as I didn't until recently, Paolo grew up in Scotland to an Italian father and Scottish mother. According to Wikipedia, Nutini was expected to take over the running of his family's Fish and Chip business, but was encouraged to get into singing by his music-loving grandfather and a teacher at his school recognised his talent. It was then he left school to work as a 'roadie',  selling band t shirts for Scottish band, Speedway' and spent three years experiencing the music industry whilst performing live. At seventeen Nutini moved to London, where he performed regularly at the Bedford pub in Balham. Other radio slots and live appearances followed, which saw him being the warm up artist for the likes of The Rolling Stones and Amy Winehouse and soon he became well known for doing whole sets with his eyes closed.
He was eventually signed to record company 'Atlantic Records' shortly after his 18th birthday.
His first single "These Streets" was released in May 2006, with his second single "Last Request" releasing in July of that year, charting at number 5 on the UK singles chart. Since then he's released two other albums; 'Sunny Side Up' (2010) and 'Caustic Love' (2014) both to great response.
"Jenny Don't Be Hasty" is from his first album and got to number 20 in the UK Singles Chart on release.

Unfortunately due to restrictions I couldn't get the version I wanted on  here :( but go and have a listen if you can!
Hope you enjoy it and I'll write soon!
Thank you for reading,
Molly x
