Procol Harem's 'Whiter shade of pale'

Hello!

Obsessing with certain songs each week is something I know all too well and this week it's Procol Harem's 'Whiter Shade Of Pale'. It's a classic known for its' lyrics not making any sense at all, but I think that's what intrigues me so much, things don't always have to make sense.

"We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels across the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more"

Still they're somehow beautiful right? Or is it just me? I can't be the only one judging from the amount of views it's had on YouTube to be completely in love with it!!

Anyway here it is... Kind of sad for no apparent reason and extremely beautiful all at the same time :D

Have a  chilled evening

The Kooks cover of MGMT's 'Kids'

Hello!

Felt like putting this cover on as I think it must be one of my favourite covers at the mo. I've always loved the lyrics to 'Kids' and then a band like The Kooks go and cover it? Winner.
Seriously though it's beautiful, if you haven't heard it before, hope you enjoy it!

Kodaline - Love Like This

Hello,

This is going to be literally the shortest post, but just wanted to upload one of the best songs I've heard in ages. 'Love Like This' by Kodaline.
I heard it for the first time in a shop the other day and I wouldn't normally do this, but I loved it so much that I asked the assistant what it was and she kindly told me :'). It's not very often that I hear something, I decide I love from the very beginning, but this song is one of them.

For me it's just summer in a song. No word of a lie, I'm sitting here studying - looking out of the window to dull and  cloudy skies, but listening to it alls 'I can see is beaches and gigs and camp outs :D.
Ah I hope summer is like that! <3

Have a good day,

Poetry that really isn't 'boring'

Hey,

I know I posted a poem on here months ago - The Charge Of The Light Brigade - and I remember then saying how; I don't get why there's still this massive stereotype - that poems are boring. Of course, as it's a stereotype, it's quite vague and sweeping to generalise and I'm not saying everyone sees them that way,  but still...  I think poems are pretty cool. Or can be. Like lyrics or short stories, their message can be inspiring, shocking or down right abstract, but never the less art in a small way.
I only started thinking more on this recently, after reading a short collection of Poems by the late Richard Beckinsale (featured briefly in my last post, he starred in 'Rising Damp' and 'Porridge' as some of his most noted work). And I can honestly say I'm moved by how beautiful they are.
He wasn't a writer by profession, these were just written as a way of venting/contemplating feelings on life/love/growth whilst juggling life as a actor and then, father. It was his wife, actress Judy Loe, who published the sort of anthology 'With Love', after his somewhat premature death aged 31. From what I've read,  her decision to do this was,  I think, a way of giving back to the many fans who felt emensely connected to the, warm, easy person we saw and continue to see in repeats on TV.
What I love about how I perceive Richard from his writing, is how simply he viewed life and repeatedly refers to "catching sunshine" as a way of talking about how he tries to see optimism rather than pessimism. I find this really enchanting, as there's nothing I love more than seeing sunshine stream through the window and I can really relate to the potential it has to make me see good. For instance, despite being quite optimistic by nature,  if I wake to see a bleak drizzly day, I feel slightly lower and lythargic - like most people I'm sure. That's why when people say 'everybody smiles when the suns out' - it's true really. Without getting too deep, I really think life's too short not to try and see the good that is around, even in the most testing situations. .
Its strange really, but because of the personal nature of the poems expressing his absolute pure feelings, I don't feel it's right to post them. Perhaps it's odd that, even despite them being published,  I feel that way. Maybe that's testimony to how touching his writings are. If you ever get a copy of the book, however, I'd definitely recommend anybody to read it.
As I've written previously I've always been a fan of many 70s comic actors through my absolute love of sitcoms, but I had no idea that Richard wrote at all  until a few weeks ago. The subject of comedy was brought up in conversation and a friend said that she was given his book years ago and that I could borrow it. And now, it's moved me so much I've posted about it... That's what I love about writing, the fact that, just by reading something it has the potential to change how you think forever.
You can never 'un read' it.
I always manage to get deep don't I?!
Have a good evening and I hope that even if one person reads this and bothers to read any of Richard's poems, you'll feel slightly better for the experience!

Good night,

'Saddo right here'

Hey!

Hope you're good? I currently feel like waffling as per usual,  rather than complete the mountain of work I seem to have. Why why WHY do I want an education eh?! I'll get it done,  don't worry but seen as it's now 6, I should have agessssss (Not. Time seems to go so quick when you need more of it. :( )
Today I feel like chatting about something that I realise makes my day as much as music, exercise or, basically chatting like the crazy chatty person I am. That is Sitcoms.
For me, you can't beat a good British sitcom, with the dry, English humour that I love.
There are millions of wonderful, witty, and emensely clever people out there, all prepared (luckily) to put pen to paper and produce, what may be, absolute brilliance. For me such writers include Richard Curtis and Ben Elton. If you don't know already Curtis is to be applauded for the likes of Blackadder, The Vicar Of Dibley and Love Actually, whilst Elton wrote the extremely witty 'Thin Blue Line' about the antics of the officers in a police station. More Modern writers have to include Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, The Office should be as respected as much as Dickens in my opinion ;), as well as the Wonderful; Craig Cash and Caroline Ahern for gracing us with the genius that is The Royle Family. Although their lesser known work (with credit to Phil Mealey also!) 'Early Doors' is fab - an ace sitcom around the lives of a group of regulars in a working class Manchester pub. Alongside more recent comedies, I'm also a major lover of 70s/80s classics like Porridge, The Good Life and Fawlty Towers. Actor's such a Ronnie Barker, Richard Beckinsale are legends, as is David Jason. Richard Briers, Paul Eddington, Felicity Kendall and Penelope Keith are also wonderful. John Cleese is an obviously great comic writer- both independently and in the Pythons - just watch the "fire alarm" scene in Fawlty Towers to see how the most simple comic devices are sometimes the most effective. Of course credit must also be given to Connie Booth, who helped to co write and it' certainly would not be what it is, without the one and only Andrew Sachs.
I could make endless lists of names of people I find brilliant and it makes me proud of our wonderful writers and actors. For me in comedy, the more subtle the better, and that I think is more common in a British sitcom than any other. Don't get me wrong, I love 'Friends'  as much as the next 'I've watched this episode literally 15 times and pretty much know every word' person, but I'm one of these who loves a bit of 'My family' followed by one of my all time favourites' 'Gavin and Stacey'. (Got to give a shout out to James Corden and Ruth Jones here! Thanks for the laughs! :D)
The brilliance of comedy is that it makes you realise that the average events of day to day chats/experiences are sometimes the funniest things. It's just these subtle things are the things that go unnoticed. If you think about it, that's why we all love Karl Pilkington (and if you don't you should!!) . He's just an average guy, travelling the world giving us his honest opinion. As far as I'm aware it isn't scripted and that's where the beauty lies. Yeah that wonder of the world might be incredibly boring! Really all  he does is say what the majority of us might be thinking :D

Like I say I could write for hours about comedy and I still wouldn't of mentioned all the people I inspire to live like ( ie Rick Mayall and Ade Edmonson in 'The Young Ones', is tempting :D). I've only put a handful on here. When you get chance, I say explore! Watch something you may not have seen before, you may surprise yourself!

Keep smiling!

The Courteeners - You Overdid It Doll

Hello!

Despite stating I may not upload music as much and document my feelings more often  on this blog, music is just too good I guess.  I can't be the only one who falls completely in love with a new song every 24 hours, be it a new one or one I've known for years.
The brilliance  of music is that there is always a song for every mood and lyrics are so powerful because, like art, it makes the listener feel like that song was written entirely for them. It's almost like the song writer actually knew you better than you know yourself and as soon as you hear the lyrics you're like 'yeah, he gets me'. Multi-million pound industry right there... But of course it's more than that. Music is also so amazing, because it can physically change how you feel. The only other thing that clears my head as much, is exercise and I think it's weird how two completely separate activities produce the same outcome. Do whatever works and makes you happy :)
I hope you enjoy -
The Courteeners - You Overdid It Doll

This weekend has flown by, I've managed to spend quite a bit of time with friends and at the same time managed to get quite a bit of revision done. It's sad that, as a student, time management is sometimes your greatest accomplishment :D.

Have a lovely rest of your evening,

Diversifying and Random acts of kindness

Hey,

It might seem a little unusual to be writing two days in a row, after averaging around two posts a month for a while now, but like everyone I have phases and guess I'm feeling particularly reflective of late. I feel it might be nice to document the odd events going on in my life a little more, without the expectation of people being vastly interested of course, more for myself really. I thought instead of making my already aching hand (due to a levels) ache more by keeping a diary, why not just blog? Don't worry it won't be as tortuously dull as a diary (well hopefully) but should just house interesting experiences that - you never know - I may want to reminisce later on... Or not :D.
So music may be on the back burner for a bit, but not too much, everyone needs a bit of T Rex or The Jam to get them through the day I think.
What got me thinking today is 'random acts of kindness' . By this I mean, people making small or perhaps  big efforts to help some body else's day run a little smoother or just get them to smile for possibly the first time that day. I honestly think it's underrated. If I think about it, the best days are due to someone letting me on the bus first, complimenting my outfit or even making a general nice comment that's unexpected. Really, it's the little things that make the biggest difference and without being too soppy or philosophical, maybe the best things really are free?
I feel I want to do a shoutout  all the lovely strangers that pass my path everyday and standout for being kind! So yes, Thank you!

Oh.., I guess I don't really have much more to say...
So I should probably get back to reading now... Its wild honestly :P ;)

Have a lovely day and hey, try to make someone smile in a while eh? They might appreciate it more than you think!

Rocking out in the Living Room

Hello!
How are this January the 7th? -  I hope good!
I find myself back from College and having a little break, before I proceed with revision for up coming exams *groannnnnnnn* :D. But hey it isn't that bad eh? Well, not too bad anyway :P....
Anyway, having from the title of this post freely admitted I rock out in my living room, I thought I might delve into my life and how 'Bridget Jones' esque it is. I mean, I'm the girl who manages to be the clumsiest and most ungraceful thing walking. I manage to embarrass myself on a daily basis or forget everything and look like an absolute pleb. In fact, because this is just me, I had to come to terms with my sheer incompetence years ago,  the most I can do is kill myself laughing in most situations. I'm one of these people who can imagine how things must look being an onlooker and actually, at least it makes the day less boring when you see someone being idiotic. (Yes still talking about myself here).
Only the other day for instance I nearly got stranded on train platform in Wolverhampton in attempt to bag myself a sandwich. (Long story - in unexpected  delays I thought I had the chance to get food...well it turns out I didn't. Luckily we set off before it let me open the door, leaving me to return safe and sound to the carriage of about 60 panicked faces after a friend screamed "OH MY GOD!" - cheers Ell!).
Even today is no exception for my sheer smoothness (yeah right!), as I get to the bus stop and fish around in my bag to find my purse - whilst managing to pull of the drowned rat look because of the,I must say, glorious weather - only to remember 'oh yeah it isn't there, I left it at home along with my house key'.
Honestly, I'd worry about myself but think I'm too far gone.... Thank God for kind family members who give lifts (thanks Jude!❤️).
Anyway enough of my rambling, wanted to share some of the music that's been on repeat over the last couple of days.

Marvin Gaye - Lets Get It On and Stevie Wonder - Superstition.

Have a good day and embrace stupidity that's what I say! ;D

The Cure - Friday I'm In Love

Hey,

Happy New Year! Hope this finds you getting over a great Christmas, still half stuffed with roast potato and chicken. If not you haven't been gluttonous enough, whack out a Yule log!
I feel really blessed for my Christmas, it's honestly been the best one for a long time, mainly because it's been spent with wonderful people I feel privileged to call friends and family - eugh Molly
*cringeeee they all squirm* 😅
This post is going be short, but today's song I heard earlier and I can't get it out of my head. Though when you hear it's The Cure - Friday I'm I Love, you'll know that's not a bad thing!

I love it but surprisingly only listened to it for the first time around a month ago, and even then it was because I then I could understand what people were raving about when bringing it up in conversation!! I wish I'd listened to it sooner, it's so good! (Stating the obvious I know!)
 So here it is!

Have a good evening!
