If I'm honest I feel uninspired lately...As if the passion of opinion I had Mid-August, has now calmed (for the time being anyway).
I'm enjoying simply chilling and listening to music. However, I still love sharing music as I think it's nice to discover new sounds. The band I've chosen today is a good example of this.
A few weeks ago I went to see the film 'Paper Towns' based on the immensely popular book by John Green. The jealousy we all felt at the gorgeousness of Cara Delevingne (Who plays one of the main characters 'Margo') was apparent, but partially remedied by a great soundtrack. The song "Falling" features about mid way through (I think?) and I loved it as soon as I heard it. Luckily the friend I was with was already familiar with the song and promptly told me it was by a girl band called 'HAIM'.
Upon research I found that there are many reasons why I now want to be a fully fledged member. (Like that's ever going to happen *sigh*).
Aside from tunes that are so individual I could only describe the genre as ' rock/pop/indie/hippy style', the band is formed of three sisters and their drummer. I think a girl rock band in itself is pretty cool, never mind sisters?! Sure Debbie Harry would be routing for them!
They seem quite down-to-earth too, as in the early days of their band they played for free at churches, schools and hospitals. Even the name 'HAIM' is interesting and is the Hebrew word for 'Life'. Lastly, THEIR STYLE IS AMAZING. So yeah, proper Fan-girling right now.
Enjoy!
